El Gato con Botas (Puss in Boots)
El Gato con Botas (or “Puss in Boots”) is a one-act opera by Spanish composer Xavier Monstalvatge and librettist Néstor Luján, based on the tale by Charles Perrault. Suitable for children and adults alike, the story is about an adventurous cat who (in exchange for a hat, sword and a pair of boots), ventures forth to find a kingdom and suitor for his master. The music is tuneful, energetic, full of Spanish rhythms and lush melodies.
Lasting about one hour and performed in Spanish with piano accompaniment, this production features the entire Marion Roose Pullin Arizona Opera Studio and is perfect for the whole family.
