Sapphire Anniversary Feast

Saturday, October 8, 2016 - 6:00pm (Tucson)

Your hosts for this Sapphire AnniversaryOpera Feast are Judy Howarth and Jean Cooper.  The Feast will be held at Jean’s home in the Foothills the night before the only performance of the Sapphire Concert in Tucson.  Every guest will receive a copy of Dame Kiri Te Kanewa’s book, entitled Opera for Lovers. Dame Kiri played Nellie Melba on Downtown Abbey, and your main dessert is named for opera singer Nellie Melba.  10 seats are available for the first Opera Feast of the 2016/17 season.

Menu

  • Pasta alla Norma (eggplant, pasta, Sicilian tomato sauce and ricotta salata) named for the opera but a dish treasured by Sicilians.
  • Tornedos Rossini- beef filet mignon served with a truffle Madeira sauce and a slice of foie gras, just as Rossini imagined it (he loved truffles and foie gras, and also loved to create recipes).  The tornedos will be served with herbed roasted potato and green bean bouquets.
  • Green salad with Rossini’s favorite truffle vinaigrette.
  • Peach Melba (named for Dame Nellie Melba) and small opera cakes.

To RSVP

Print the order form and mail to Jean Cooper by October 2.
We will need anyone signing up for this Feast to also email Jean that they have done so since she will be out of the country until six days before the Feast.

About Opera Feasts

Opera Feasts, now in their 9th season, are dinners held in private home themed to the operas of the Arizona Opera season. They are a major fundraiser of the Opera League. Our generous hosts donate all of their expenses so that 100% of the proceeds go to Arizona Opera. We have kept the price at $125 per seat and you get a tax deduction of $75 for every Opera Feast seat you purchase.
