American Opera Lecture Series: Part 1

Tuesday, March 28, 2017 - 7:00pm (Phoenix)

Arizona Opera presents our American Opera Lecture Series, a three-part event fully delving into the history of Opera on this side of the ocean. From Porgy and Bess on Broadway to Riders of the Purple Sage on our own stages here in Arizona, expand your mind and listen to this engaging event presented by Josh Borths, Director of Education and Community Engagement.

Part 1: 1900-1955
Explore the origins of opera in the United States and the first American Operas. From Gershwin to Carlisle Floyd, learn about how the themes we chart through American history find their way into the fabric of our native operas.

This lecture series is a fundraiser for the Arizona Opera Department of Education.
Tickets for the complete series are $60.00, individual tickets also available.
