Arizona Opera's Director of Education hosts a two-session class, with music and video examples, to discuss the history of opera and what you should to listen to when you attend a performance.
Opera is more than Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd screeching Figaro and Flight of the Valkyries. Opera, Borths says, is the ultimate art form because it combines all other disciplines into one incredible work.
In the first class (Thursday, February 4), learn how opera began in Italy and then took the world by storm, culminating in the classical (and fan favorite) operas of Mozart. Borths also covers the different styles of opera and how they continue to influence the art form today.
