Opera 101 Lecture - Part 1

Operatic Art Form and Its Beginnings in Italy
Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 7:00pm (Phoenix)

Arizona Opera's Director of Education, Joshua Borths, hosts a three part series, with music and video examples, to discuss the history of opera and what you should listen to when you attend a performance. In week 1, participants are introduced to the operatic art form and how it began in Italy and took the world by storm, culminating in the classical operas of Mozart.

Opera is more than Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd screeching Figaro and Flight of the Valkyries. Opera, Borths says, is the ultimate art form because it combines all other disciplines into one incredible work.
