Joann Serra

Director of Finance and Administration

Joann Serra joined Arizona Opera Company in September 2012, as the Director of Finance, Administration and Human Resources. In this role, she directs the financial affairs of the organization, overseeing established best practices to support sound fiscal management, including financial management and reporting, cash management and nonprofit policies and procedures.  Additionally, she is responsible for administering human resources, and overseeing the organization’s administration functions and IT systems.   

Ms. Serra understands all areas of nonprofit arts organizations and has the ability to work together, as a team, for a company to thrive and grow.  She has had a solid history of senior leadership positions and her many years of nonprofit arts experience have included the Director of Finance, Administration and Human Resources with Palm Beach Opera; Accounting Manager with The Norton Museum of Art and Director of Finance and Administration with Jupiter Performing Arts Company.  Ms. Serra’s studies have included Business Management from Bergen Community College, Financial Management from Rutgers University and Human Resource Management from Northwood University.  Throughout her career she has been an active member of SHRM.

In her spare time Ms. Serra enjoys music, theatre, decorating and swimming.  She and her husband, Chuck along with their two kitties Lexi and Laci resided in the Sonoran Foothills.
