Joann Serra

Director of Finance and Administration

Ms. Joann Serra joined Arizona Opera Company in September 2012, as the Director of Finance and Administration. In this role, she directs the financial affairs of the organization, overseeing established best practices to support sound fiscal management, including financial management and reporting, cash management, nonprofit policies and procedures and financial reporting.  Additionally, she is responsible for administering human resources, and overseeing the organization’s administration functions and IT systems.   

Ms. Serra understands all areas of a nonprofit organization and the ability to work together, as a team, for a company to thrive and grow.  She has had a solid history of senior leadership positions and her many years of nonprofit arts experience have  included the Controller and Human Resources Administrator with Palm Beach Opera;  Accounting Manager with The Norton Museum of Art and Director of Finance and Administration with Jupiter Performing Arts Company.  Ms. Serra’s studies have included Business Management from Bergen Community College, Financial Management Certification from Rutgers University and Human Resource Management Certification from Northwood University.  Throughout her career she has been an active member of SHRM.

Ms. Serra enjoys music, theatre, decorating and swimming.  She resides in the Sonoran Foothills with her husband, Chuck.
